The use of artificial intelligence in drug discovery is creating complex intellectual property issues for attorneys advising pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, technology developers, and other stakeholders. AI-assisted inventions raise important questions concerning patent eligibility, inventorship, ownership, and the scope and strength of patent protection, particularly as AI tools become increasingly involved in the development of potentially patentable innovations.
