Bringing the Receipts: How to Try a Document-Centered Case | On-Demand Available 24 Hours Later

Broadcast Date: Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (ET)

When dealing with cases, trial lawyers have to make strategic choices under pressure and work within the constraints of the rules on evidence, the testimony of witnesses, and the procedures in court. The course offers practical legal advice concerning how to raise objections, examine witnesses, and present or dispute evidence during a trial and in other contested situations. The talk will cover the common evidentiary problems, courtroom strategy, and trial advocacy issues which can influence the way the record is developed and the effective presentation of the client’s case.

In this CLE webinar, Joshua Robbins, Partner at Crowell & Moring LLP, will discuss practical methods for assessing and dealing with evidentiary objections, as well as for carrying out direct and cross-examination and for making timely decisions in court.

Upon completion of this program, attorneys will be able to:

  • Identify and assess the common evidentiary issues and objections which occur during the examination of witnesses and when evidence is being presented at trial.
  • Use practical trial advocacy techniques when conducting both direct and cross-examination, such as responding to objections and adjusting your questioning strategy during the testimony.
  • Evaluate the courtroom strategy and the procedural aspects in order to raise timely objections, keep the record and either present or challenge the evidence effectively.
